Vba Auto Increment File Name Too Long For Destination

How to write the Macro, that automatically increse the values of minute (mm)if the ss attains 60 and increment the hour(h) value if mm get 60. At the moment I have concatenated four cells to produce the file name in B9 but if there was a way to use variables that would be awesome too! The code runs. File name does not auto increment. It could possibly take a long. 2) User is NOT using auto. Vbscript, Incrementing Filename Number. How can I increment filenames - MS Word&VBA. VB6 had an auto-increment on the project properties dialog. File path too long to delete? Have destination path too long / filename is too.

Vba Auto Increment File Name Too Long For Destination

I currently use Pictures to EXE to create CD proofs for my clients. Nice features include setting expiration date, protects images from being extracted and allows the file name to be displayed with each image. I now want to create CDV files so the proofs will play in a DVD machine. I bought Photodex's ProShow Gold (we already use CompuPic to organize images). The problem I have, is that it will not allow the display of the file names in the slide show. You can create captions, but that would take too long.

I have an action to batch apply my logo on each preview. Can anyone tell me a way add an incrementing number onto each image in an action? The files are already named sequentially, is there a way to add the file name as a text layer? A further issue (wrong forum) is my pricing structure.

We put a 5 day expiration on the PIC to EXE shows and require order dates within 5 days of the shoot. The CDV files cannot be made to expire.

I'm not sure how to handle putting a permanent (although low res and logo stamped) image into my client's hands. Should I charge more to provide a DVD playable preview set? Thanks, Kenny Caudill. Based on a recent thread that I can't find at the moment because the DPReview search function is out of service, I'm aware of one DPReview member (Jamie Benaud) who solved a similar problem by implementing the PS7 Scripting function and found a suitable script from the PS7 scripting forum at Adobe.com.

The Java script is called from an action, enabling him to automate the function. (Search on 'scripting' to find the thread.) One with Java or VBA programming skills could easily whip out the code to generate sequence numbers. I wouldn't be surprised if what you're asking for (or somethiing like it) has already been written and available for download. If you haven't yet, you might check the Adobe.com PS7 scripting forum and poke around there. DannyR Kenny Caudill wrote: I currently use Pictures to EXE to create CD proofs for my clients.

Thanks, Danny It took me a while to figure out how to run scripts. Wasn't aware I had to track down a plug-in at Adobe before they would work.

I got the update installed, copied the script into the scripts folder and got it run. Problem is, I see no text. I see a text layer named Filename and the History tab shows that the entire script ran.

According to notes in the script, the text should be in the upper left corner. I used the Text tool and moved the cursor around up there (looking for invisible text), but found nothing. As a further test I tried the date stamp script, same results.

I show a text layer, but can't see any text on the layer. Any ideas what might be happening?

Wasn't trying to make it more difficult - really. RE: Suggestions Wish I had some spectacular technical advice here, but this is one of those cases where the implementation and debugging train left the station a long time ago without me on it, in other words, 'Beats the heck out of me!' If no one else is able to assist on this forum, I'd say the next step to consider would be to post this question is on the Adobe scripting forum. I get the impression some pretty sharp programmer-types hang out there, who would probably get you moving in short order. I'd be interested in knowing how you resolve this. Sounds like you're on the 20 yard line, just on the verge of a TD.

Thanks for the reply, Danny. I'll have to look into it further later.

Kinda busy on other things right now. But, if anyone else has suggestions, I look here regularly. If you haven't yet, you might check the Adobe.com PS7 scripting forum and poke around there. Hi Kenny I have been interested in this action also, hence followed thru and found what you, (and perhaps others) may be interested in. I have installed and verified that the action runs OK on my MAC OS 9.1- PS7. First you must download the PS plug-in for 'scripts' from the Adobe Website-(I think you have already done that)-this download should install in the 'scripts' folder in the 'presets' folder of the 'Adobe Photoshop folder' on your hard drive. Next go to the following link This will download a.sit file which will expand automatically - both will be in targetted folder for downloads. Open Folder and click on installer icon-and a file called 'AddFileName.js' should get installed into the above mentioned scripts folder. Open the.js file and change the font called 'Copperplate' to any other font of your choosing.

At this point I would recommend you do not use the 'action' that came in the downloads folder and create your own 'action'. At the risk of sounding pedantic I am outlining the steps for the action. On Actions Pallette-click the new action button and call it 'FileNamer' or some such thing. Click OK and it will start recording- then 1) Open a file thru the PS file browser then 2) Go to Image>canvas size>width(select percent)=100%, height=110%(or more or less-as u desire), click top center box in the nine box array (This will place a black strip at the bottom) 3) Go to file>automate>scripts>and select script called AddFileName.js. (this will record that u want this script played at this point in the action). 4)Go to File>Save As>Target Folder - leave file name as is but change format to.psd if required (so as not to loose the text layer). Stop the recording-thats all there is to it.

Then when u run the file>automate>batch --select the action you created and choose your origin and destination folders and say OK and sit back and relax. I presume u know that you can first run the batch command in the file browser to name or rename files automatically before you run this action so you get your desired titles on the text layer created thru the 'action/script'. Should you have a problem - pls let me know.

Thanks, Kenny Caudill. Just a postscript---Since the script is a javascript-it will run in 'wintel' machines also. All the other things remain same for both platforms. I liked your idea of an edge for the filename. The only problem I had with the whole procedure was figuring out how to open a.sit file. Had never seen one before. Sorry about the slight problem you had with the.sit files- I somehow imagined you were working in the MAC OS. Nevertheless the upside of this is a) I will be more careful about my directions in future and b) I needed to know how to get the.atn files that DannyR and others create and post as.zip files-so I reasoned that if you could open a cross platform compressed file by a download from 'stuffit' then perhaps I could get a reverse zip/unzip from there also. After necessary downloads am happy to report that I am now setup for opening and creating.zip files in the MAC environment. So you see it worked out fine for all of us.
